WKU student debuts solo album featuring Bela Fleck, Curtis Burch

By the Daily News Online, dnews@bgdailynews.com

Western Kentucky University senior Mark Melloan will perform songs from his new CD, “The Shadowlands,” on Saturday in Horse Cave.

The music will be part of the Main Event Summer Concert Series at 6 p.m. at the Hidden River Stage in the American Cave Museum on Main Street in Horse Cave.

“The Shadowlands” includes 12 songs Melloan wrote. Well-known musicians Curtis Burch, legendary dobro player Bela Fleck, Casey Driessen and Rex Wiseman appear on the album.

Burch will be coming to the concert from a west coast tour.

The concert is free and is sponsored by South Central Bank.

Melloan, a native of Elizabethtown, is encouraging the public to attend.

“I’m really looking forward to this concert,” he said. “So many of my songs are about people and places that are very familiar to folks that call Hart County home.”
