The City of Elizabethtown and the Elizabethtown Tourism and Convention Bureau have teamed together to celebrate the release of the new film from writer-director Cameron Crowe, “Elizabethtown”, by hosting a Downtown Block Party on Saturday, October 15th. Mayor David Willmoth said "We would like to welcome everyone to join us in the excitement of the movie, "Elizabethtown". This event is free to the public with live entertainment beginning at 5 p.m. The streets will be blocked off around the square and vendors will be available. So everyone is invited to bring a lawn chair and join in the fun. Performers include Pat Kirtley, the 1995 National Fingerpicking Champion, The Pauly Zarb Band, and The Trailer Park Troubadours. Other local favorites to perform are Lorinda Jones, Mark Melloan, and Glenn Rice. “This is a party for the community and we are happy to be able to bring the event downtown, which will soon be seen in theaters all across America” said Sherry Murphy, The Elizabethtown Tourism and Convention Bureau Executive Director.
